If we can spark children’s interest in the arts, we are on the right path. We’re here to expose children in our community to things they might not normally be exposed to— a literary person, drummers, painters, classical musicians. ISCA is the only organization in this area devoted exclusively to arts education for school children. ICSA is here to help by presenting opportunities that may not otherwise be possible,” – Anuska Frey, ISCA past president.

That is the goal of ISCA and along the way ISCA is proud to have accomplished an impressive list of successes:
• 36 years of supporting local schools with nearly 2 million dollars in arts education funding.
• 25 years of being a major supporter of the
Artists-In-Education programs with artist residencies serving over 10,000 students in an academic year.
• Over 50 artistically talented high school seniors have received
Plumb Scholarships to aide in their pursuit of a four-year college course of study in journalism or the visual, performing,        and/or computer arts fields.
• Over $100,000 given for the
School Grants Program.
• For close to 15 years
ISCA has proudly presented the Promising Picassos Student Art Exhibition which showcases the talented student artists of the public, private and home schooled  students of Southern Beaufort County.
• Named as a partner in the 2003 Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network and National School Boards Association Award recognizing the Beaufort County School District for    excellence in arts education.
• Recipient in 1986 of the prestigious
Elizabeth O’Neil Verner Award given by the Governor of South Carolina for outstanding achievement in promoting arts education.
• In 2007 the Island School Council for the Arts received a grant from the
National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C. to bring North Carolina sculptor Patrick Dougherty to Bluffton,  South Carolina for the creation of a significant public art outdoor sculpture which is currently on display (tentatively through mid 2008) in the prestigious community of Palmetto Bluffton, SC.
