Randy Douthit is a producer on the show, Judge Judy. He has worked on the show since 1996, and he has won two Daytime Emmy awards for his work on the show. This is an impressive accomplishment considering that his job includes finding plaintiffs and defendants to appear on the show.
In addition to producing for Judge Judy, Douthit has also worked on other shows for CBS. Hot Bench was one of these shows, and it featured three judges instead of one like in Judge Judy. However, according to Douthit’s own words during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2019, “It’s always been my goal to make sure that nobody can do what we do better than we can.
Douthit is married to ‘Judge Judy,’ also known as Judith Sheindlin. After being married to Janet, with whom he shares a daughter named Jamie, Douthit started working on his now-wife’s show in 1996. The couple tied the knot in September 1990, and they share a son named Adam.
As for what’s next, Douthit said he is looking forward to a vacation. After Judge Judy ends, he will have time to learn how to play the guitar and do the things he has always wanted to do but never had the chance to. It is possible that Sheindlin could bring Douthit back for another show, but there are no plans in place yet. Douthit said that you could expect more of the same from him if it does happen. He has no plans of retiring at the moment and hopes whatever comes next will be as much fun as Judge Judy was.
Randy has won two very prestigious awards for his work on Judge Judy’s show. Specifically, he was part of a team that took home Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program trophies at the 2013 and 2016 Daytime Emmys.
Additionally, he was nominated for the same award in 2014 and 2015. The ‘Judge Judy’ show has also won two other Daytime Emmy awards, plus 12 more nominations.
