A seasoned member of the television industry, Randy Douthit has spent the majority of his career working in Los Angeles and the West Coast region as a director and producer. He gained notoriety for his 25-year run as the producer of the popular program “Judge Judy.” He has also had remarkable success with other well-known TV shows like “Judge Joe Brown,” “Crossfire,” and “Larry King Live.”
At Portland, Oregon-based KGW, Douthit’s career in television broadcasting got its start. Later, when CNN was still in its early infancy, he joined and began producing feature stories in New York and talk shows in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
He developed Crossfire, a program that featured political figures debating from opposing sides of the spectrum and rose to the position of executive producer in 1982. He also created the weekly news program Capital Gang.
From 1996 to July 23, 2021, when the final episode of the courtroom reality series Judge Judy aired amid the COVID epidemic, Randy Douthit worked as the show’s executive producer. The real-life family court judge Judy Sheindlin, noted for being stern yet fair, appeared in the episode.
Following the conclusion of Judge Judy, Douthit produced 120 episodes of Judy Justice, which debuted on IMDb TV on November 1, 2021. Judy Justice will return for a second season, according to IMDb TV.
From 1968–1969, he attended Stanford University. In 1970, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Portland State University, and in 1973, he received a Master of Science in Psychology from the same institution.
