Shelton Haynes is the President & CEO of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). He is a goal-oriented individual with a winning mentality that ensures that RIOC’s objectives and the Roosevelt Island community continue to prosper. His commitment, proficiency and loyalty to RIOC’s vision and goals drive the company toward a bright future.
As CEO of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation, Shelton has led the company since 2021. He oversees all aspects of operations and administration for RIOC, including new business development, financial management, property management and facility design projects, while striving to meet community needs on a local level that transcends those of commercial properties.
Shelton Haynes comes to his professional experiences with a wealth of experience both within the corporate world as well as in public service, where he served for three years in various capacities, including COO at the Housing Authority of Dekalb County.
Since taking charge of RIOC, Shelton has been able to complete projects that have been stalled for decades. For example, in 2021, he could do public relations retail and hospitality construction projects. He also opened up FDR Hope Memorial, honoring President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Shelton has always been a strong advocate of community development in the New York City area and has recently been involved with United Way. He is eager to start construction works set to boost the economy of Roosevelt Island. He plans to construct new housing and reduce unemployment by creating a new innovative environment that fosters job growth for many people from the island.
Shelton’s vision for the future of Roosevelt Island includes creating a new school, park and police station, and housing. He seeks to develop a new state-of-the-art recreation center home to facilities including swimming pools, gymnasiums and a fitness center that the public can access.
Thanks to RIOC CEO, Roosevelt Island has built strong community relationships that have seen improvements in tourism, people’s welfare and massive technological advancements.
